Terms and Conditions

New England’s 1st Annual MIC2023 Independent Music Awards

Mission Statement:
MIC2023’s mission is to build an extensive network within the New England indie music scene by creating a cohesive relationship between independent recording artists, local and national radio stations, industry professional networks, and venues that host live entertainment.

The Purpose:
The purpose of this conference is to begin the process of connecting DJs, entertainment media, promoters, and venues with the abundance of quality talent in the New England market which is necessary for maintaining the vitality of its nightlife. In addition, our organization is committed to taking the best, of this talent pool, to the next level through our extensive entertainment networks.

Our primary affiliations include the Urban Influencers based in California, Co-Sign based in New York, and a business relationship with Power Sonic Music based in the United Kingdom as well as others.

 

Goal:
Our ultimate goal is to help make outstanding talent to the next level. We expect that this project will begin the process of creating a robust, international, platform for distributing, marketing, promoting, and selling independent music and merchandise.

This business model will provide consumers with an alternative opportunity with the option to affordably access a greater variety of their favorite music genres.

Artist Submissions:
Artist Submissions will be used expressly for judging purposes and radio airplay. Any other purposes (i.e., marketing, promotions, advertising, etc.) will be negotiated with all appropriate entities.

NOTE: All products submitted must be owned by the registrant.

 

ALBUM OF THE YEAR:
All products submitted, for album of the year consideration, should email MP3s to mic2023newengland@gmail.com or send CDs to the following address:

MUSIC JUDGING PROCESS:

All music will be reviewed by a panel of expert entertainment professionals. The judges will be guided by a strict list of criteria. They include but are not limited to:

  1. The originality of the record includes lyrics, tracks, etc.

  2. Quality of the record’s production.

  3. The social media responses, exposure, etc.

  4. The number of radio spins (if any).

Each category will carry a 1 to 5-point rating. A tally from all judges for each category of each record will determine the ranking of all records and albums. The accumulated totals will determine the winners.

 

VIDEO JUDGING PROCESS:
Videos will be judged by a committee of expert videographers and music influencers. Judges will determine their choice for best video of the year based on a number of criteria such as:

  1. The originality of production.

  2. Quality of the production.

  3. Social media reception of the production.

  4. Overall visual performance and presentation

 

MUSIC CATEGORIES:
Genres of music include all segments of:
Jazz – Hip Hop – Reggae – Pop – World Beat – Rock

Awards in each of the above categories include:
1. Best Record of the Year
2. Best Album of the Year
3. Best Music Video of the Year

The Final Categories Are:
BEST FEMALE ARTIST OF THE YEAR
BEST MALE ARTIST OF THE YEAR

These will be determined by online voting, industry professionals’ input, and the review of your music, videos, live performances, etc.

ARTIST SUBMISSIONS:
Each artist can upload two (2) singles for award consideration.
Only one album per artist will be accepted for award consideration.
